Tour 22: Polentswa Camping Wilderness Trail-Botswana

This tour is for the true adventurer! Only at Nossob will we have the chance to shower. Only enough water to wash the face. We will smell like the Lions of the Kalahari, but the tour will be special as we will see other tourists rarely. The Park allows only allows one group on this trail to conserve the eco-system. All the camps are unfenced-except Nossob – giving us the true Kalahari feeling…

Tour Program

DAY 1 – Rooiputs

Depart 8h30 from your guesthouse in Upington – drive to Twee Rivieren and after checking in we depart on a small bush road through the Nossob river bed to out camp. The Kgalagadi is open country, with lots of lovely Acasia trees. In the summer this is where we’ll find the King of the Kalahari – the famous Black-maned lion..

Overnight: Rooiputs – unfenced- 300km

Meals: Lunch & Dinner

DAY 2 – Polentswa

Early morning departure on the Nossob river bed to our next destination at Polentswa. IMPORTANT: This is also an unfenced camp. The magic of these camps are the fact that we are very close to the magic of the Kalahari, making you feel much closer to nature.

We spend our time doing several game drives. This is prime predator area, and if we are lucky we might see the big cats, or if we are really lucky the big cats will visit us. Again your guide will handle the situation, as we have been doing these tours for many years. Every morning we do a walk to inspect the animal tracks around our camp. Many times the Leopard visits us, most of the time the only evidence will be his tracks in the Kalahari sand.

Overnight: Polentswa camping – unfenced – no facilities – 200km

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner

DAY 3 – Sesatswe

We drive over high dunes today. This is dune-country with Elands and Gemsbok in large groups. From your guide we will investigate the plant- and animal life of this region.

Overnight: Sesatswe – unfenced – no facilities -110km

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner

DAY 4 – Lang Rambuka

Safari drive across the dunes. We do several game rides in the rolling sand-dunes and flat pans.

Overnight: Lang Rambuka – no facilities -100km

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner

DAY 5 – Nossob

Pack up one hour before sunrise and depart to Nossob. This camp will be welcome, as we can shower! A swimming pool will sooth away all the tiredness of the last few days. On this tour we will appreciate the fact that water is as good as gold in the Kalahari Thirstland. Today we can maybe see the King of the Kalahari as a bonus?

Overnight: Nossob fully equipped – 100km
